Bumba Meu Boi de Pindaré
Founded May 15, 1960 by Mestre João Câncio dos Santos on Praia da Ponta d'Areia; honors his birthplace Pindaré-Mirim. Created the distinctive 'sotaque do Pindaré', a variant of the sotaque da Baixada.
65 years in 2025; recorded landmark album 'Sotaque do Pindaré' (1972); led for decades by João Câncio.
