Fai Lok San Chinese Music Society (輝樂神)

Mount Pleasant·Vancouver·Canadaest. 1982

Vancouver Cantonese music society founded in 1982 that meets Wednesday afternoons at Mount Pleasant Community Centre. It deliberately expanded the city's yueju club map beyond historic Chinatown, making weekly rehearsal accessible to families living south of False Creek.

A neighborhood-anchor club rather than a Chinatown-only society. Shows how Cantonese opera communities migrate with the Chinese Canadian population while keeping weekly rehearsal as the social glue.
