Kodokan Judo Institute

Bunkyo·Tokyo·Japanest. 1882

The spiritual and institutional home of judo, founded by Jigoro Kano. Daily keiko, ranks, and international visiting practice make the Kodokan both a headquarters and a living dojo community with a clear etiquette and mutual-improvement ethic.

Prototype of the modern dojo as moral and social community, not only a fight school. Visitors still bow onto the same cultural floor.
