Krewe of Proteus
Founded in 1882, Proteus is the second-oldest krewe still parading. Their floats are still pulled by mules and are some of the oldest in continuous use in any parade.

The historic 'King of Carnival' krewe, founded in 1872 for the visit of Grand Duke Alexei. Rex established the official Mardi Gras colors (purple, green, gold) and parades down St. Charles Avenue on Fat Tuesday morning.

Founded in 2000, Muses is the all-female super-krewe known for its hand-decorated, glittered high-heel shoe throws and satirical floats. Parades Thursday night before Mardi Gras.
