Other basel fasnacht cliquen
Oldest still-existing Fasnacht clique in Basel, founded on the Kleinbasel (right-bank) side. The VKB are widely cited as the seed organization of the modern organized clique movement and remain a Stammverein with Alti Garde and Jungi Garde sections.
Second-oldest Basler Fasnachtsclique, originating in Kleinbasel. A classic Pfyffer-und-Tambouren (piccolo and drum) Stammverein still active in the Cortege and Morgenstreich.
Founded by members of the Basel artillery (Saint Barbara is the patron saint of artillerymen), the Barbara-Club has a military-rooted Stammverein with Alti Garde and is one of the very early 20th-century cliques shaping the Cortege.
One of the oldest Grossbasel Stammvereine, rooted in the Breite quarter. Maintains Stamm and Alti Garde formations marching with Sujet (annual theme), Larven and Laternen.
Stammverein historically meeting Wednesdays (hence Mittwoch-Gesellschaft) at Löwenzorn and later Gemsberg from 1922; one of the senior Grossbasel cliques.
Pioneering Grossbasel clique credited with launching the modern Basel Larve tradition: their 1920s 'Modern Art' Sujet drove the commissioning of papier-mache masks, which became the prototype for the now-standard Basler Kuenstlerlarve.
