Pat Wo Wui Kun (八和會館 Singapore)

Singapore·Singapore·Singaporeest. 1857 (as Lei Yun Tong; renamed 1890)

The world's oldest continuously existing Cantonese opera association, originally a guild for performers and tradespeople of the eight harmonious professions. Founded as Lei Yun Tong in 1857 and renamed Pat Wo (Bahe) in 1890 after the Guangzhou parent guild.

Living proof of the Cantonese opera guild model transplanted to Southeast Asia. Still a cultural and mutual-aid hub for yueju practitioners in Singapore.
