Society for Creative Anachronism

International·Globalest. 1966

An international volunteer organization whose members research and recreate pre-17th-century arts, crafts, combat and culture through local meetings, practices and events. Its twenty regional kingdoms contain local baronies, shires and cantons that run tournaments, workshops, feasts and demonstrations.

The first tournament was held by friends in Berkeley in 1966. The organization now reports more than 30,000 paid members, with local chapters across North America, Europe, Australia and parts of Asia and Africa.
