The Castle Climbing Centre
Manor House / Stoke Newington·London·United Kingdomest. 1995
Worker-cooperative climbing centre in a converted Victorian water pumping station in North London. Beyond the walls it runs courses, youth programmes, and a strong regulars culture that makes the café and terraces as social as the routes.
Co-op ownership plus a real third-place café: one of the UK's clearest examples of a climbing gym as community clubhouse.
