Ma Petite Planète
3-week seasonal 'leagues' where players form teams of 6+ (schools, workplaces, neighbourhoods, families) and earn/lose points completing 50 bonus eco-challenges (e.g, zero-waste meal, organising a clean-up) and avoiding 20 penalty actions. Over 5,700 participants and 75,650 challenges completed across editions.
Teams compete in cross-team leagues during each 3-week season; team scores ranked on a shared leaderboard. Schools, classes, and communities are pitted against each other in the same season.
Within a team, players collaborate by sharing photo/video proof, swapping tips and coordinating challenges (e.g, one person organising the team's neighbourhood clean-up earns everyone points). The format explicitly encourages 'mutual aid' inside the team while competing externally.
Pure team-vs-team eco-challenge format with strong intra-team collaboration. Distinct from the brief's covered examples; under-mentioned outside France. Easily mapped onto neighbourhood teams.

Cash prizes for top schools are spent on a sustainability project the school chooses.
Cool Choices (Wisconsin team sustainability game)

Players log daily 'cool choices' (carpool, line-dry laundry, unplug devices) which are translated into points on a public scoreboard. Originally a deck of physical cards at Miron Construction; now web/mobile. 9,471+ players, 334,201+ sustainable actions reported.
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel (formerly Big Pedal)
UK's largest inter-school active-travel challenge run by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (Sustrans). For two weeks, schools log every walked, wheeled, scooted or cycled journey via a school portal; a school's best five days determine final position on a national leaderboard, with badges and certificates.
