Gensen at SOLANA Beijing

academic-research · Beijing, China (SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Park district) · Launched June 2024; case study published 2025 in Buildings (MDPI)

Metaverse-on-mobile platform by Prismo Studio that digitally gamifies a real commercial neighborhood (SOLANA). Generates behavioural and check-in data tied to physical locations. Studied as a case in Buildings/MDPI on socially-sustainable urban space, June 2025.

Areas compete

Sub-zones within SOLANA (food court vs blue-harbor vs outdoor plaza) compete on check-in volumes and gamified social activity counts visible in-app. Mall operator uses cross-zone leaderboards to allocate events. Could be extended to compare commercial neighborhoods citywide.

People support each other

Within each zone, users coordinate digital-physical activities (group check-ins, social shopping, treasure-hunt-style cooperative quests). The paper highlights 'social mixing' and 'adaptive community-building' as the intra-area mechanic the platform produces.

Why this is worth knowing

Rare Chinese example combining metaverse + physical neighborhood + 2024-2025 academic analysis. Useful as evidence the inter/intra pattern works in privately-managed neighborhoods (BIDs/commercial districts), not just civic ones.
