Cycle September / Love to Ride workplace + city leaderboards

Active travel / cycling promotion · Global (USA, UK, Australia, NZ, Jersey, Glasgow, Cary NC, Philadelphia, etc.) · 2014-2026 (annual)

Annual September cycling challenge run by Love to Ride. Riders log trips via app; workplaces compete on regional and global leaderboards segmented by size bracket. In 2023 Philadelphia alone, 412 riders from 56 workplaces logged 4,898 trips.

Areas compete

Workplace-vs-workplace leaderboards filtered by city, state, country, and industry. Cities themselves are compared (e.g, 'Cary NC' vs 'Philadelphia' boards). Workplaces compete in size-matched brackets so small offices have a fair chance.

People support each other

Co-workers ride together for their workplace's total, and points are awarded both for riding and for encouraging colleagues to register. Explicit intra-team mutual support mechanic. School/university teams included for students.

Why this is worth knowing

The 'points for recruiting/encouraging colleagues' mechanic is a clever way to reward intra-area support, not just individual output. Replicates across geographies cleanly.
