FOAM Map. Community POI curation with staking
FOAM lets users curate a decentralized map of Points of Interest by staking FOAM tokens on each POI; bad POIs can be challenged. Each region's POI density and quality is visible on the public map. Originally paired with a planned 'Proof of Location' radio beacon network.
POI density and challenge activity vary visibly by neighborhood/city on the FOAM map. Under-mapped neighborhoods are obvious gaps that local curators fill, with implicit competition over who 'owns' a region's curation.
Within a neighborhood, curators must coordinate to defend stakes against challenges (false POIs), creating intra-area cooperation on a shared local map.
One of the earliest 'crypto map of the world' experiments still online; the staking-and-challenge mechanic on POIs is a copyable trust pattern for a BelongHub-style community-group catalog.

Helium Mobile subscribers opt into Discovery Mapping: walking/driving with the app maps eligible H3 hexes (~2 basketball courts each); subscribers must hit 40 hexes/day to earn. The data drives Boosted Locations. High-footfall hexes where hotspot deployers earn extra MOBILE rewards. LA was the first city specifically targeted with a city-wide boosted-location rollout.

Community-owned weather network: ~9,500 stations deployed by individuals. Owners earn $WXM daily based on Quality of Data and Proof of Location. Station density per cell is visible on a public explorer, and the protocol uses 'cell' geometry to reward (and cap) stations per area.
